Rachel and Nolo met when Rachel moved to Guatemala to be a homeschool teacher for an American family that Nolo also worked for. They fell in love and got married. Today, they have two biological daughters and have also welcomed a Guatemalan daughter and son through fostering.
Early in their marriage, Nolo shared with Rachel a vision the Lord gave him — to impact the community in front of his parents’ house, called La Bendición (The Blessing). Rachel and Nolo started with a simple Bible school for children, which has since grown into a multifaceted ministry.
The heart of Iglesia del Destino is helping children and teenagers break generational cycles of poverty, lack of education, and unhealthy family dynamics. The ministry focuses on the soul, mind, and body.
For the soul, Iglesia del Destino offers a Bible school for children and dedicated time for teenagers to discover the love of Jesus. For the mind, they provide a scholarship program, helping students graduate and pursue careers that offer them a brighter future. For the body, a medical program offers funding for quality healthcare to address physical needs.
Beyond meeting practical needs, Iglesia del Destino empowers children and teenagers to think critically, ask questions, and seek truth — in church, school, and life. They are encouraged to explore Scripture personally and not just accept what they’re told. The ministry also teaches the importance of setting healthy boundaries, helping them build respectful relationships and care for their well-being.
Through these programs, Rachel and Nolo are equipping the next generation to thrive — spiritually, mentally, and physically — and to walk confidently into their God-given destinies.
