Epic-Cure Inc. – Turning Food Waste into Food Security

Epic-Cure Inc. is a 100% volunteer-run organization founded in 2018 to combat the staggering amount of food waste in America. While 1 in 6 people in the U.S. face hunger, an estimated 30-40% of our food supply is wasted—ending up in landfills instead of on tables. We took action to change this reality.

Since opening the doors to our first warehouse nearly six years ago, we have rescued and distributed over 31 million pounds of food, providing an average of 79 pounds of food per family more than 300,000 times.

But food rescue is more than just providing nutritious meals—it’s also tackling a serious environmental crisis. Food waste is the largest contributor to landfills and accounts for 6% of all greenhouse gas emissions. When food decomposes without oxygen, it produces methane, a gas 10 times more harmful than CO₂ emissions. Thanks to our volunteers, the 31 million pounds of food we've rescued is equivalent to removing over 3,600 cars from the road for a year.

And the problem goes beyond landfills. Each year, 22% of our freshwater supply and 16% of our farmland are used to produce food that never gets eaten. By rescuing food and distributing it to families in need, we help conserve critical resources while reducing hunger.

At Epic-Cure, we also believe in fostering self-reliance. Through our cooking classes for veterans and Title-1 school children, we teach practical cooking skills, empowering individuals to safely prepare meals, gain confidence, and build independence.

Because we are a 100% volunteer-run organization, our costs remain low, and our impact remains high. For every $1 donated, we return $42 in value to the communities we serve.
